Manual Setup Instructions

1. First Call us at 619-478-9701 to open your account and get your username and password. We can talk you through the following setup procedure.

2. From “Desktop” on your computer. Go to “Start” and open it with a left click.

3. Select (left click) “Control Panel.” Under “Pick a category” select (left click) “Network and Internet Connections.”

4. Under “Pick a task,” select (left click) “Setup or change your Internet connection.”

5. In “Internet Properties,” you will be on the “Connections” tab. Select “Setup” to open the New Connection Wizard and click “Next”.

6. Select “Connect to the Internet and click “Next.”

7. Then select “Set up my connection manually” and click “Next.”

8. Select “Connect using a dial-up modem” and click “Next.”

9. In the ISP Name box type “mei” and click “Next.”

10. In the phone number box put the selected phone number for your area and click “Next.” See http://support.aabol.com for a complete listing of numbers for your area.

11. In the User name box put your assigned username and password You will need to confirm your password a second time to make sure you do not have an error. Then put check marks in all three of the small boxes below and click “Next.”

12. You should now be at the “Completing the New Connection Wizard” page. Put a check in the box labeled “Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop” and click “Finish.”

13. This has brought you back to “Network and Internet Connections.” We will now add the Advanced settings. At the bottom of the page select “Internet Options.”

14. This puts you into “Internet Properties.” You should now be on the “General” tab. The Top section is Labeled “Home page.” In the box labeled Address put: http://www.aabol.com and click “Apply.” Now select (Click) the “Connections” tab.

15. You should now see “mei (Default)” in the “Dial-up and Virtual Private Network Settings” box. Put a dot (left click) in the circle labeled “Always dial my default connection” and click “Apply” then click the “Settings” button.

16. Put a check in the box labeled “Automatically detect settings”. Your username@mei should be showing in the “User name” window and your password window will have a series of dots. Now click the “Properties” button.

17. This brings you to the “mei Properties” pages. You can add additional Alternate phone numbers here (optional). Select (click) the “Networking” tab. In the “Type of dial-up server I am calling:” window, “PPP:Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet” should be showing.

18. In the section labeled “This connection uses the following items:” check the boxes labeled “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP),” “QoS Packet Scheduler” and “Client for Microsoft Networks.” Now highlight by clicking “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and select the “Properties” button.

19. You should now be on the page labeled “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties.” In the top section select (dot in the circle) “Obtain an IP address automatically.” In the bottom section select (dot in the circle) “Use the following DNS server addresses:” and put in the following numbers. Preferred DNS server: 216.98.128.70 and for the Alternate DNS server: 216.98.138.70 and then click on the “Advanced button.

20. Be sure the two boxes “Use default gateway on remote network” and “Use IP header compression” are checked and click “OK” on as many pages as necessary to bring you back to your Desktop. You are now ready to use the Internet.
